Sam's Got Glasses!

She picked them out herself, and she likes them very much. She doesn't object to wearing them at all, except when other kids try to poke her in the eye or steal them.

She is supposed to wear them during all waking hours, and so far that's going fine. The hard part is that we still have to do "pirate time" (patch her left eye) 2-3 hours a day. The patch under the glasses just seems like a lot to ask of a 3 year old. But we have some great pirate songs to sing and she actually seems to have fun with it. The next time you see her, just ask her what a pirate says. She'll say "Arrrr!" with gusto.

We're also into Vikings (Swedish heritage, you know), and she asked me yesterday what a Viking Pirate would say. I told her I didn't know, and she looked at me like I was daft and said "Ya! Arrrr!"
