I have such awesome girls, such amazing family, such a cool job... But every now and then, doing it all wears thin. Mother's Day was one of those days. Carl had been in California, in our old stomping grounds, since Thursday. I was already pretty tired out from his being gone, and more than a little jealous of his second guy trip in six months (I haven't had anything but business overnights since Sam was born).
He got home in time to take the family to dinner (the same place we go every night, Pinky) and I hoped to tuck the girls in and get a little mommy time. I went into a tailspin when Ally started asking for Nanny Jamie, and informed me that she liked her better. Sam didn't agree- she says she likes us both the same. I know I'm putting too much stock in the words of toddlers, but I've been feeling physically ill for 14 hours now. With Carl between jobs, I've been working a lot of hours, and I've been tired, so I probably haven't been as cool a mommy as I was before. I've been really worried about that, so the comments hit a bit of a nerve.
Today, Sam has music class. I used to get to go with her, but I am trying to put in more hours and so I've been sending her with Jamie. The weather's gorgeous, and the girls will probably have lunch outside with Jamie. This is one of those days when I want to be a stay-at-home mommy so much it hurts.
Here are some pix of the girls I miss!
Sam's Bday Celebration at School
Sam and best friend Bailey at Build a Bear for her bday.
Ally the artist - she loves to paint!
My Easter bunny!
Ally harassing Precious the Cat (shortly after this, she made her "roar" aka hiss)
Water baby! She stayed in the pool till she shook and her lips turned blue. Did this have anything to do with the ear infection she had the following week? Hmmm.
Sam with her superstar stylist, Miss Monica. She's showing little sis how it's done.
Ally's first haircut - at last!
